What are the Chakras?
There are seven major Chakras located in the body, with each corresponding to organs of the energy system. The Chakras are responsible for processing energy or chi. Chi is life force that is inside us, as in our essence, or outside us, as in our environment.
What are the functions of the Chakras?
The Chakra system provides crucial information about what is happening around us. When we are more aware of what is happening around us, we are more enlightened. Because Chakras are the closest thing that we have to a "personal security system" when they aren't functioning correctly we may feel anxious, worrisome, have trouble sleeping or making decisions.
How do Chakras become dysfunctional? You can think of each chakra as a circuit breaker for the energy running through your body. Just as a circuit breaker will flip if it gets overloaded or experiences a surge, your chakras can "flip" into a dysfunctional state if you experience a surge such as a trauma or emotional overload. When a Chakra is is dysfunctional it limits our body's capacity to metabolize the chi in our environment. We may feel depleted, listless or unhappy without reason.
What happens in a Chakra Balancing session?
During a Chakra Balancing session each Chakra is evaluated using a pendulum to measure how functional your chakras are and if they are spinning the correct way. If a Chakra is out of balance, the therapist will use Reiki or crystals or both to align it back to a functioning position.
