Recently we have learned that our state regulatory board has adopted a strategic initiative to ban those who do complementary therapies. We are hoping that you will help us by taking this opportunity to support Texas Bodywork practitioners doing clothed therapies including Reiki, Reflexology, Healing Touch and others. Presently the TDLR board is re-writing the definition of massage to include ANY and ALL therapies that require touch to appease the majority of the TDLR board members who are massage school owners.
If these changes become law, ALL Bodyworkers in Texas will be forced to take 500 hours of additional schooling and become massage therapists in order to keep their businesses. The TDLR's agenda includes introducing this new definition into law in the January session of the Texas legislature. If lawmakers approve this change, Texans will lose their freedom to choose many healthcare practitioners. Your support will send a message to law makers and regulatory boards that policy should not be based on the demands of special interest groups but on important issues like safety and ethical standards.
Please take a moment to read our petition and show your support. This online petition will be sent to Texas Governor Gregg Abbot and key members of the TDLR staff. Anyone can sign this petition so we are encouraging practitioners, clients, friends, colleagues and family from Texas AND all over the country to help us send a strong positive message.
Thanks for your support!
